Approach
Our approach to design is a comprehensive one, we want to know everything about you as a couple: your favorite seasons, what you like to do on a lazy Saturday afternoon in the summer, your favorite meal , how you met and so much more. Our goal is to better understand you as your family and friends do and to share your personal styles as a couple for the first time with your loved ones. Uniting families should get a glimpse into the uniqueness of you as a couple but also how your individual styles compliment one another.
Case Study [liquid assets]
One couple indicated at our initial meeting that they wanted to feature a martini bar by the water for their summer shoreline soiree. After getting to know the couple we learned that neither one enjoyed martini's at all - they actually preferred drinking beer but felt martini's were more appropriate. We scratched the martini bar and instead desinged a beer bar featuring micro-brewed beers from all the places they had lived. To complete the design we created custom pilsners with their monogram on it, custom coasters and paired the beer bar with a full pommes frites station. Guest loved the idea, it was fun, unexpected and truly reflected the couples fabulous style.
Case Study [ family history ]
Another couple celebrated their wedding reception on the brides farm that had been in the family for generations. There was no question in anyones mind when the bride became engaged that despite lack of electricity or running water her wedding would be celebrated on their breathtaking farm. Throughout the design process we honored the meaning of the farm starting with a dramatic save the date that featured a water color photo of the farm. The Bridal Party arrived in horse and carriage and as guests departed the reception we lined the walkway with her grandfathers antique tractors that were up-lit with focused lighting.
Design Studio
Our design studio in Connecticut is a creative space to view: lighting , linen, florals, attire, invitations , tabletop, gifts and accessories. We pull together stoyrboards from your inspirations and build on those ideas as our design process continues. Once tabletop and floral centerpieces have been determined we design a full tablescape for our clients in the studio. The table features your linen, china, stemware, flatware, napkin treatments, menu and table number options and a full scale floral installation. It is a great opportunity to discuss what works , or what may need to be tweaked in advance of your reception.
We often enjoy designing this table for our clients in collaboration with their caterers. It is great to see not only what your table will look like, but further how the food is presented on the slected china. We may decide to increase or decrease the size of a plate , switch a utensil , add more candlelight or change a napkin treatment. All of these details are paramount in the design process, they are what make the overall design feel cohesive and purposeful.. Design elements should be carefully infused throughout the wedding and reception and reveal themselves as gifts throughout the entire celebration.
